Data are facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. Analysing and manipulating data to find conclusions is enjoyable. We can use this data to find trends and patterns. For many years, I have loved playing with data. These include a variety of topics such as cricket statistics, aviation, US election results and football statistics.

This blog will include some work that I have already done, and some work which is quite new. From here, you can learn about interesting observations through data in a variety of topics. I hope to post 1–2 times a month. I have done a course called “Statistics in the Real World” from Brown University, which taught me how to use R. For simple analysis, I use Microsoft Excel. Excel has a feature where you can calculate regressions and subtotals for grouped data, which I use at times. Excel has another feature called 3D maps which allows me to map my data out to see patterns.

I get my data from a variety of sources. For American demographics, I use the Census Bureau’s data. For Election results, I manage to find spreadsheets on the internet that have the results. Many people have already curated spreadsheets with such data. It is possible for anyone to access data using such sources, especially GitHub. You can play around with data by using Excel functions and the Data Analysis tab to find patterns. That’s it for now!
